FUNDAMENTALS – INTERMEDIATE – ADVANCED
We specialise in helping new members who have never boxed before get off to a great start.
The best way to get started is to book into a 40-min Fundamentals class with one of our very experienced coaches.
Our 40-min Fundamentals session is how most people get started at Corporate Fitness Centre. It is the perfect way for you to get a feel for the gym, meet the crew, members and feel the friendly vibe and see if it is the right fit for YOU!
During this session we can see where your fitness and skill level is, recommend the best sessions for you moving forward and to get started on helping you improve your boxing technique.
For those with a real interest in boxing, you can level up your technique and polish your skills at our Intermediate Boxing classes.
Intermediate boxing focuses on teaching more advanced boxing skills, including the science behind the sport, key punches and defensive skills, and work with both attacking and defensive drills. Our experienced coaches deliver an in-depth look at boxing in a safe and controlled environment where you can improve your skills in a real way.
These classes do offer a good workout but primarily focus on delivering boxing technique and skills instruction.
Intermediate Boxing classes are open to anyone with a solid foundation of boxing skills and an intermediate level of fitness. It’s not recommended to attend if you have no previous boxing experience. Please speak to our coaches to find out more about what the classes involve and whether you’re ready to join.
Getting ready for your next fight? Or just enjoy contact drills and some sparring? Advanced boxing classes are for amateur and competitive boxers needing intensive training and instruction.
Advanced Boxing sessions are for experienced boxers with intermediate levels of fitness and boxing. You can expect an intensive workout and boxing instruction with pad and bag work, partner drills, strength training and conditioning.
Advanced Boxing classes deliver high-level boxing instruction with classes focusing on perfecting technique and the mechanics of advanced punches, combinations, attacking and defensive drills.
Sparring is NOT mandatory.
MEMBERS CAN EXPECT A VARIETY OF THE FOLLOWING BOXING SKILLS AND EXERCISES IN EACH OF OUR SESSIONS:
Offence sessions will include the jab, cross, overhand, body shots, left hook, right uppercut, and left uppercut. Participants will also progress through a continuation of the offense fundamentals, where we will break down the basic punches, as well as straight punch combinations.
Defence sessions will include the duck, pullback, rolls and slips. Participants will also learn advanced forms of defense, such as the roll block, shoulder roll and combination roll and slips.
Footwork sessions will include lateral and longitudinal movement, where participants will learn, in more detail, the fundamentals of footwork. These classes will include aggressive/defensive positioning, circling, switching stance, and distance. Participants will also learn advanced movement built off the fundamentals, such as backpedalling, shuffling, leading and countering, pivoting on the front and back foot, side step, and the distance drill with movement.
Conditioning sessions combine strength work and cardio conditioning to achieve a total body balance. Participants will work on improving strength and conditioning to enhance their performance as a boxer, using specific boxing conditioning exercises that involve just your body weight, as well as the use of certain pieces of equipment.
Circuit is an interval-based circuit training session focused on building strength, endurance and explosiveness. CIRCUIT will incorporate a mix of cardio, strength training and boxing using stations such as slam balls, battle ropes, skipping, kettlebells, boxing bags and more.
Bag Work is an interval-based heavy bag class focused on teaching you boxing combinations combined with bodyweight exercises to build the upper and lower body.
Pad Work is a drill-based technique session focused on teaching you proper boxing technique, shadowboxing and partner pad work.
This session is the ultimate all-round boxing workout, made up of a combination of our class types, including Footwork, Circuits and Pad Work. The session is designed to achieve maximum output over 40 minutes to get your weekend started right!
