I had been practising muay thai kickboxing for a few years in gyms by myself. One day a boxing enthusiast watched me and said “You have much better hands than feet, why don’t you try competing in boxing?” 3 months later I fractured my hand on his forehead, about 3 months later I was in the ring for my first match, I was hooked into boxing at first because it fixed my mindset at the time, all that mattered was me and looking after myself. It saved me from a bad relationship because it gave me the confidence to leave. What I love about boxing is that it can be moulded to suit everyone so that it is an enjoyable exercise, not just something you do “because you have to” like general gym workouts.
